This morning I read an article titled, One Professor’s Journey From Scientology to Christ” (http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/one-professors-journey-from-scientology-to-christ.)

One paragraph particularly interested me. Michael J. Svigel is describs the moments of his conversion. Through the providential work of the sovereign God he called pastor Dent. He was invited over to Pastor Dent’s home. There the gospel of Jesus Christ was shared. What especially intrigued me is Svigel’s description of his thoughts at the moment. “…, my mind traveled to a similar moment when I was a kid. A kind woman named Bonnie Olson had conducted a Good News Club in our neighborhood and shared the same gospel with me. And I had heard the same message from one of the more conservative Lutheran pastors at Congregation of the Good Shepherd. For some reason, it reassured me that the same gospel had come from several different people with different church backgrounds at different times in my life. At that moment, everything clicked. I trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ as the God-man who died for my sin and rose from the dead. In his sovereignty, God had called me by his Holy Spirit into the kingdom of his Son. But from my perspective at the time, I had simply wandered into the faith.”

Often New Life will be the source of the gospel to one God has called by his Holy Spirit into the kingdom of His Son. We may never know for we may be the first to present the good news at upward bound basketball camp. Or we may be the third to present the truth in a sermon to an autistic family or in worship. You may share a letter for a prisoner through Kyros prison ministry. Nevertheless what a hugely significant reality that you are a part of God’s sovereign plan to save some. 19 For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them… I have become all things to all people that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
